Free at last!

Report: May 11, 2011

After accepting a shall we say "less than legal" job rolling pies at a certain pie shop I am happy to report that my tenure has finally ended. My month long holiday job for a bit of folding money ended up lasting five months. I can hear some folks already saying "I shouldn't complain since I was paid in cash, my commute was 30 seconds long and I got to be the social butterfly that I'm known for." Never the less, I'm excited that I won't be peeling 300 pounds of potatoes a week, nor rolling close to 600 pies a day on average. I ended up staying on with the shop longer than the holiday rush since one of the ladies was diagnosed with cancer. Between treatments, doctors appointments and general days of fatigue she was away more often than not. I am happy to report her surgery went great and she's back in the swing of things. She's also a brand new grandmother so she's got a lot to live for. Who knew colon cancer was such a danger to women as well as men.

I did learn quite a bit though. I'm strong as an Ox, even when I sing with the radio while rolling pies I'm still off key and there's nothing quite like working in a small family run business to make a foreign girl feel like part of the family. Oh, and if anyone wants pie dough rolling lessons I can wield a mean rolling pin ;)

I'm currently looking to the future and preparing for summertime...that is, if spring ever decides to show up. Our current weather feels like a typical California winter so I feel like I went from very very cold snow, to very cold constant rain. The locals are happy it's spring but I guess my definition of the word is different than theirs.

I'll get a few months back posting done then jump back to current day activities. Here's hoping all is well is your world too!

  2. Yay! New post, new post!

Happy to hear from you Eagle, if I hadn't been able to chat Goose up, I'd of thought you'd been found out, captured and caged in one of them terrible Canadian gulags were always hearing about. :)

So I'm thinking if Goose wants pie at this point, he can go get it his damn self now?

Just so you know, we just had the wildest weather out here this past week, rain, hail, thunderstorms, snow...again! Today looks to be shaping up to be spectacular however, though high's wont get greater than the 60's.

Anyhow, real happy to hear you folks are doing well, we miss you both of course, but do know that we will probably invade with a visitation in the distant future. :)

    Warmest regards,

    Joe
