After a brief rest back at the house we headed back out to see the fireworks that they launch from Halifax Harbor. While waiting for the bus there was an RCMP with a very festive flag attached to his vehicle. I wonder if the folks that got pulled over for a traffic violation thought the flag was cute too. Goose wondered if the officer would have the nerve to wish someone a Happy Canada Day while handing them a ticket.
Family Day Picnic
It seems with such a family oriented town they sure roll out the red carpet on holidays for kids. The city provided a family day picnic on the Common Grounds near downtown. Complete with 8 inflatable jungle gyms, a gigantic water fountain and plenty of vendors happy to sell you any form of sugar. The place was packed. Oh! and no holiday is complete unless a tank is involved!
My favorite ferry ride
In order to catch the very best view of the fireworks we hopped on my favorite ferry boat and heading across the water to Alderney Landing. With a free concert going on the place was already crazy. People were crushing onto any spot near the water for a great view.
The night wrapped up with a beautiful show. Buses were crowded but with the festive mood we didn't seem to mind.
